Sometimes in life you just have to follow your gut feeling. For years I have been searching for a place in Amsterdam to start a new club night for house music.
There is so much going on in Amsterdam right now; the city is vibrant with great spots for dancing. The only thing missing, in my humble opinion, is a club concentrating on groove-based vocal house music. Music you can listen to and love without being under the influence of any substance because the music itself is so powerful that it touches you deep inside. Music that is uplifting and deep at the same time.
When I walked into club Oak last week I knew I had finally found the perfect spot. It’s intimate, it holds a maximum of 200 people, but most importantly it has a pristine sound system. Oak’s system has been developed by Tannoy and Funktion One, people that know about great-sounding speakers. Without getting too technical, even people who cannot be bothered with this nerdy information will FEEL the difference once they HEAR it.
I took it upon myself to gather Holland’s finest producers/DJs to showcase their music on such an epic system. June sees Ferreck Dawn, Redondo, Rene Amesz and Dennis Quin gracing the decks. Everyone knows that June is Maybe not the most likely month to start a club night, but it just FEELS like the right thing to do. This is an open invitation to everyone who digs the sounds of Todd Terry, MK, Disclosure, Dennis ferrer, Lowsteppa or Duke Dumont: come out and show your support for the Amsterdam house scene.
